Initiating a Transfer

Transfer Items

Although transfers can be initiated on object versions, components and change requests, it is only object versions that are ever actually moved or copied.

A transfer on a component is used to register that component as an object version. As such, a component transfer can only ever be a 'Register' type transfer. Furthermore, the from location and to location of a component transfer must match.

Likewise, change requests do not exist at locations and therefore cannot be transferred around the Deltanji environment. A transfer that is initiated on a change request moves or copies the object versions that it contains. Object versions within change requests may exist at different locations from each other. If this is the case, not all object versions will be able to be transferred along the specified route and Deltanji will record which objects were transferred successfully and which were skipped.

In order for a transfer to complete successfully, it must conform to a valid transfer route. For more information, see the article on Transfer Routes.
