Location Classes


A location class is a group of locations. It provides a convenient way of grouping several logical locations together for transfer operations. For example, when there is more than one live location which the software is released to, they can all be placed in a location class called LIVE.

When specifying a 'to' location in a transfer, it is possible to select a location class instead of a location, in which case the object version(s) will be transferred to all of the locations it contains. Similarly, a drag-drop transfer onto a location class folder initiates a transfer to all the locations it contains.

Grouping locations into classes has a variety of uses. The following screenshot gives one example. Here, the 'Dev1' location class lists a set of locations that are placed in an order between which the user should transfer objects:
