If one of your Serenji tasks has previously crashed, it may leave the Sentry believing that a task is still listening on a particular port.
One way to clear this situation is to reboot your PC.
Alternatively, close all Serenji tasks from your taskbar. Then close the Sentry from your system tray. If it reports that it's still in use, confirm that you want to close it anyway. Then bring up the Windows Task Manager (in NT, Windows 2000 or XP, right-click on the taskbar and choose Task Manager…). If SerNgine is listed on the Applications tab, choose to End Task. This should give you an additional dialog from SerNgine, where you should choose Close. There should now be no sign of Serenji, SerenjiSentry or SerNgine on the Task Manager's Applications tab.
Finally, start Serenji (or SerenjiSentry) from your Start menu, and try to connect to it as normal.
