When Serenji starts up, a messagebox indicates problems with the parse engine.
On Serenji 1.x the messagebox is titled "Version Mismatch Warning". It reports the version number of the GUI Agent (eg 1.2.0) but the version number of the Parse Engine is missing. When the messagebox is dismissed, a further messagebox is created behind the Serenji Debugger splash screen. When you press Enter to dismiss this, Serenji closes.
On Serenji 2.x the messagebox is titled "SerNgine Failure". When it is dismissed, Serenji starts up but code coloring and other parse-dependent features are missing.
The drive on which Serenji was installed has a file named Program (with no extension) in its root directory.
The existence of such a file can adversely affect other applications too, as it may interfere with access to executables in a subdirectory of "Program Files".
It may have been created by a badly-behaved application previously used on the computer.
Note that the "Program Files" folder name varies around the world. If yours also contains a space, look for a file whose name matches the part of the folder name that comes before the space.
Delete, move or rename the file named Program.
