Selection Criteria and Filters

Selection criteria filter the items which are displayed in the main panel for the object, component and change request views of a location.

Clicking the 'Select' button or pressing the return key will cause the specified selection criteria to be applied to the items which are displayed in the main panel. Clicking the 'Refresh' button will refresh the screen.

Selection Combo-box

Type the selection criteria into the text box at the left-hand end of the select toolbar. The ten most recently used (MRU) criteria are available from the drop-down list next to this.

The selection criteria can be specified in a number of standard ways:

Method Example
Select with a wildcard ABC*
Select with a single-character wildcard ABC2?
Select and de-select a wildcard AB*;'ABC*
Multiple independent criteria ABC*;BBC*
Transient selector (the trailing semicolon prevents its addition to the MRU list) AVerySpecificObject/*;

Additional Selection Methods for Objects

When selecting or de-selecting objects for display, the following additional notations are available:

Method Description Examples
Highest version Use the letter 'h' or 'H' in place of a version number. Note that when viewing objects within a location this selector picks the highest version active at that location. There may be other higher versions in existence which are not at that location. For example, ABC/App.3 may be the highest version in LIB, although ABC/App.4 is under development in DEV. ABC*/*.h
Members of a Change Request Select or deselect members of one or more change requests by prefixing a change request selector with the @ character. @BUG005
@E12*
'@C123
Active elsewhere Appending the '@location' suffix makes a selector operate on the list of objects at the nominated location. The example shown here selects everything in the current location and then deselects everything active at Live. *;'*@Live

Deleting MRU Cache

Deltanji stores the ten most recently used (MRU) criteria for each folder view. It also automatically populates the selection crtieria and filter tools with the last used combination. This cache can be deleted.

From the menu bar, choose Settings -> Delete MRU Cache.

Note that this operation deletes all MRU caches for all folders for the current user, and the MRU of change requests in the transfer dialog.

The filter buttons determine which kinds of items should be displayed. The buttons have different icons depending on which view you are in. Some options are only available in working locations (marked with a 'W' below) and others are only available in library locations (marked with an 'L' below).
