Creating Labels

Create a Label

Labels are locations that snapshot the contents of single-version library-view locations at the time of label creation.

Create a Label

1. Select the single-version library-type location whose contents you want to label. This can be done within the top-level Locations folder or within a subfolder of the Location Lists folder.

2. Click on the 'Create Label' button. If the button is disabled hover over it to find out why.

3. Complete the dialog that appears. The first tab has the following fields, some of which are mandatory:

Label
The name of the label. This needs to conform to the valid naming conventions for a location, and cannot match an existing location or label.

Description
A short description of the purpose of the label.

Access rights
The access rights controlling visibility of this label. If empty, the label is visible to everybody.

Lists to add label to
To create a label there must be at least one location list that you have permission to modify. If there is exactly one, it is preselected and cannot be deselected. If there is more than one, all are preselected and you can deselect any that you do not want the label appended to.

The second tab has the following fields, all of which are optional:
Systems to include
If the source location accepts only one system it is preselected and cannot be deselected. If there is more than one, all are preselected. The label location being created will only accept the selected systems.

Object selector
To label a subset of all the objects currently active at the source location, change the radiobutton and then use the set of controls below it to enter one or more object selector strings. These will be applied in sequence to determine the objects to label.

Audit message
The text to be added to the audit of each labeled object. The default value comes from the %LABEL transfer route being used to perform the labeling.

4. Click 'OK'. This will create the label location, append it to the selected location list(s), then transfer all qualifying objects from the source location X to it, using the (%LABEL,X,%ANY) transfer route if it exists else the (%LABEL,%ANY,%ANY) route.
